Shifting my perspective.

This afternoon, Raj and I had lunch with one of our friends. We dined at Saica, a Japanese restaurant near North campus. While we ate our meals (teriyaki of some form for all of us!), we talked about the challenges of balancing strength training, cardio and yoga within an exercise program. Something I think about frequently.

When I focus on one area, I tend to let another slip. For example, if I do yoga, I cut back on strength training. Some weeks, I love cardio and focus only on that. Hmmm….how to integrate it all and make it habitual. Still working on that one.

I am, however, fighting my “all or nothing” mentality. Ironic that I train people in their homes, but never exercise  at  home. If I don’t go to the gym, I don’t work it! SO, tonight, I decided throw out that slogan and insert my new one:

All or nothing Small and something.

I knew that I wouldn’t have the time to get to the gym tonight, because I would be training someone, so in the spirit of my new approach, I did a quick 25 minute cycle at home:
